To slow it down, turn it counter clockwise. To speed it up, turn it clockwise.

I got a list # on top of a recently overhauled Ford , with a mild cam and heads. The engine cold starts on fast idle and runs good for about 20 to 30 secs then starts to run very rough for about a minute. After that it runs well, I have been playing with the choke cap setting, and it seems to like 1 lean the best, but I am still having the rough fast idle. Manual says to adjust fast idle to about RPM? But which step? the first one? There are five steps in Holley fast idle cam. BTW, the choke is set at it's middle lean/rich setting. Once the engine is fully warmed, the Holley is solid and runs like a champ.

Slightly crack the throttle open, unload the fast idle cam, and turn the choke cap clockwise until you see the choke plate open. Then rotate it back slowly until the choke plate just comes closed. At that point, you can go ahead and snug those screws back up, and that's going to give you a good starting point to make adjustments from.
